Family Trip to Samaipata: El Fuerte Ruins, Vineyards, and the Magic of a Guide Dog

Our experience in Samaipata was the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. We arrived as a family and settled into a cozy cabin surrounded by nature.
Our family adventure in Samaipata was the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. Nestled in the eastern foothills of the Bolivian Andes, we settled into a cozy cabin surrounded by lush nature. From there, we embarked on journeys to ancient ruins, strolled through local vineyards, and experienced the unique charm of this tranquil village
Samaipata doesn’t have its own airport, so the most convenient way to reach this charming Bolivian town is by flying into Cochabamba or Santa Cruz de la Sierra, ones of Bolivia’s major cities.
Tip: Book your flight early to secure the best deals on airlines flying to Cochabamba.

After a day of rest, we set out to explore the famous El Fuerte de Samaipata — a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fascinating history and breathtaking panoramic views
TheFuerte de Samaipata is a place full of mystery and magic. Believed to have been a sacred center and an important site during pre-Incan times, we wandered through its carved stones and ancient structures, surrounded by mountains and valleys. The peaceful atmosphere truly transports you to another era

After exploring El Fuerte, we set off on a more unique adventure — visiting the vineyards of Samaipata. What made the experience truly special was our furry friend, a local guide dog who chose to accompany us, leading the way through the vineyard trails.
Although we really enjoyed this activity, the weather, unfortunately, kept us from visiting other attractions like the Giant Ferns and the Condor’s Nest. Both are incredible excursions you can easily book through one of the many tourist centers located in downtown Samaipata.
